Nation threatens an electromagnetic pulse attack

SEOUL—North Korea said it has “succeeded in making a more developed” hydrogen bomb and mounting it on the tip of a long-range missile, and threatened a high-altitude nuclear blast that experts fear could wipe out electrical networks in the U.S.

I served in a firing battery of a Lance nuclear missile unit in Germany from 1981-83. I learned about firing procedures & the development history of nuclear missiles.

The NoRKs have the equivalent mobile ICBM akin to a Minuteman II 1990s-era missile able to carry the equivalent of a 100-200 megaton thermonuclear device (1956-63) with a 2000s guidance system able to hit within 1000 meters (likely much less). They would be able to mount it on two trucks with a crane to join the missile sections and warhead and fire it off from a steel frame launch pad within an hour or less. They would fire it during a cloudy day so that there would be no warning until it left the cloud cover. 15 minutes or less.

They would fire an air-burst as it would "dig in" and create an Electro-Magnetic Pulse over DC &, New York. The secondary targets would be Chicago and LA, etc.

They would also fire fission nukes in some of their many 155mm cannons at Seoul.

The Chinese won't let us attack first -- not with nukes.

WASHINGTON—An 11th-hour Republican push to undo large parts of the Affordable Care Act suffered an apparently lethal blow Friday when Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) said he wouldn’t support the plan, prompting congressional aides of both parties to say they saw no path forward for the bill.

Mr. McCain’s opposition came the same day another Republican, Susan Collins of Maine, said she was leaning against the legislation. Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) had already said he wouldn’t vote for it, and GOP leaders can only afford to lose two Republican votes.

The surprise statement by Mr. McCain marked the second time he had opposed Republican health legislation at a critical moment; he cast a “no” vote that helped sink a previous version, in July. Mr. McCain’s decision was especially resonant given his close friendship with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), the bill’s chief sponsor along with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R., La.).

“I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal,” Mr. McCain said. “I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried.”

Let Obamacare further collapse, taking the insurance companies, HMOs, and Medicaid, maybe even Medicare with it.

The whole scheme was to pay for the medical care racket adding on layers of administrators and lawyers and not one single nurse and making the young and fit pay for it through a "mandate." It passed without a single Republican vote and Obama diddled with it through Executive Order in order to keep it without actually forcing it on businesses and the young until the very last years of his second administration.

The Supreme Kort ruled that since it was a "tax" that forcing these burdens on the young was constitutional. The Republican House should have agreed -- then raised the 'tax' collected to zero applicable to nobody. Deny the funding then destroy the "mandate/entitlement" to where no one pays.

The Republicans lied about repeal/replace. McCain hates Trump and so won't let it pass.

Let this "law" remain on the books -- a fit tribute to Congress' stupidity, greed & corruption.
