Four police officers and multiple civilians were shot Friday afternoon at a warehouse in Aurora, Illinois, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms confirmed.

An active shooter was reported at the Henry Pratt Co., a manufacturing business, and dozens of police vehicles and ambulances responded to the scene.

Just after 3 p.m. local time, the city confirmed on its Twitter account that the shooter is in custody, but the area is still on lockdown.

    .

    .

The Chicago Bureau of the FBI tweeted that agents are on the scene.

John Probst, an employee at the company, said the gunman is a co-worker.

Probst told ABC7 that he ran out of the back door of the Henry Pratt Co. building as the shooting unfolded.

He said he recognized the gunman, who he said had “a pistol with a laser.”

Probst said he wasn’t hurt but that another colleague was “bleeding pretty bad.”

This story is based in part on wire service reports.

Jew-prize, jew-prize, Sgt. Carter!!! Look it in itz kosher eyes.

Once again, we see another mass shooting in a glibtard anti-gun state. All the gun control in the world couldn't and wouldn't have stopped this shit. It's just the opposite. Gun-free zones create an "all-you-can-kill" whigger buffet for any and every criminal who happens to "feel like whigger tonight". And Illinois is nothing but one big gun-free zone.

Anybody stupid enough to live there gets what they deserve.

Death toll climbs to 12 in Virginia Beach shooting; suspect is dead

Twelve people were killed and four others were injured when a gunman opened fire at the Virginia Beach, Virginia, municipal center on Friday afternoon, officials said.

Responding officers shot and killed the gunman, said Virginia Beach Police Chief James A. Cervera. One officer was injured and was expected to recover.

“He was saved by his vest,” the chief told reporters.

Chief Cervera described the suspect as a “longtime” and current employee of the city. He said the shooting was indiscriminate.

The shooter’s identity was not immediately released, the police chief said.

The Wall Street Journal and CNN reported Friday night that officials identified the suspect as DeWayne Craddock, a city employee.

The police chief said the gunman used a .45-caliber handgun with a suppressor.

“This is the most devastating day in the history of Virginia Beach,” Mayor Bobby Dyer said.

The victims of the shooting at the Virginia Beach municipal center were found on three floors and one victim was shot in a car outside the building, Chief Cervera said at a later press conference.

One victim died on the way to the hospital and four other victims were undergoing surgery Friday evening, Chief Cervera said.

The gunfire broke out around 4 p.m. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam tweeted, “My administration stands ready to assist law enforcement and first responders in any way.

White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley confirmed Friday evening that President Trump had been brief on the shooting and “and continues to monitor the situation.”

Sen. Mark R. Warner, Virginia Democrat, also issued a statement Friday evening: “I am horrified by what has happened today in Virginia Beach. I am thankful to law enforcement for their swift and courageous response. My heart goes out to all the victims of today’s senseless violence, their families, and the entire community that has been affected by these awful events. I will be praying for the swift recovery of those injured.”

A police spokesman told The Virginian-Pilot that the shooter opened fire in Building 2 of the municipal center, which is adjacent to City Hall. The building houses the city’s public works, public utilities and planning departments, according to City Councilwoman Barbara Henley, who arrived at City Hall building about 4 p.m. when she saw a crowd of people standing outside.

“Somebody told me there had been a shooting, and they were told to leave. Afterward, I heard a loud male voice say, ‘Get down!’ so I did,” Ms. Henley told The Associated Press.

“When the person said to get down, then everybody dispersed pretty quickly,” she said.

“I’m just sick,” she said. “All these people that I work with all the time. They are such really fine people, and I just hope they’re all safe.”

Megan Banton, an administrative assistant who works in the building where the shooting happened, said she heard gunshots, called 911 and barricaded a door.

“We tried to do everything we could to keep everybody safe,” she said. “We were all just terrified. It felt like it wasn’t real, like we were in a dream. You are just terrified because all you can hear is the gunshots.”

She said she texted her mom, telling her that there was an active shooter in the building and she and others were waiting for police. Banton works in an office of about 20 people that is part of the public works department.

“Thank God my baby is OK,” said Banton’s mother, Dana Showers.

Paul Swain, 50, was among those who arrived at the Princess Anne Middle School to reunite with loved ones who were in the building during the shooting.

He said he saw his fiancee from across the parking lot, clearly in an agitated state.

“I think she knew some of the people,” he said.

Virginia Beach Shooting Victims Were Engineers, Admin Assistants, Agents

In wake of what he called a “senseless incomprehensible act of violence,” Virginia Beach city manager Dave Hansen named and briefly eulogized the 12 victims—11 city employees and a contractor—who lost their lives when a disgruntled engineer who worked in the same building opened fire.

The victims were ethnically diverse men and women who were just finishing their work week on a Friday afternoon at city's municipal public works complex when DeWayne Craddock, 40, cut their lives short.

Speaking Saturday morning at a news conference, Hansen said he knew and worked with each of the employees.

“We want you to know who they were so in the days and weeks to come, you will learn what they meant to all of us, to their families to their friends and to their co-workers,” Hansen said. “They leave a void we will never be able to fill.”

He then showed a picture of each victim, pausing to explain the role each played and how long they worked for the city of Virginia Beach. One had been there just 11 months, another had been there more than 40 years. One man was a contractor in the office that day to secure a permit.

          Christopher Kelly Rapp

Rapp had been employed for the city in the public works department for just 11 months. The Washington Post reports that Rapp was in a bagpipe band called Tidewater Pipes & Drums and often wore a kilt when he played. “We are heartbroken to share the news that our band mate, Chris Rap, was one of the victims of Friday’s senseless shooting,” the band said in a Facebook post. They also sent support to Rapp’s wife Bessie.

          Richard H. Nettleton

Nettleton, an engineer, was the Design & Construction manager with the Public Utilities commission where he had worked for 28 years for the city as an engineer. Those who knew say that he was the “go to” person for every single public utility and engineering project in the city for nearly three decades. Nettleton also served in Germany in the 130th Engineer Brigade of the U.S. Army.

          Laquita C. Brown

Brown was a right of way agent for Public Works who had been employed by the city for 4.5 years. Her friend Sinda Price posted an emotional tribute to the woman she referred to as a sister on Facebook. “It still doesn’t feel real,” she wrote. “I can’t believe she’s gone ... She was one of those people who just lit up a room. Every room ... And now that light is gone, and my heart can’t stop hurting.”

A woman who identified herself as Brown’s cousin also posted a Facebook tribute. “I am heartbroken,” she wrote. “My cousin’s life was taken from her today.”

          Tara Walsh Gallagher

Gallagher was a public works engineer who had worked there for six years.

          Mary Louise Gayle

Gale was also a right of way agent, working for the city for 24 years.

          Alexander Mikhail Gusev

Gusev was an engineer for the city for eight years.

          Katherine A. Nixon

Nixon was an engineer with Public Utilities who worked for the city for ten years.

          Ryan Cox

Cox had been an account clerk for 12.5 years.

          Joshua A. Hardy

Hardy was an engineering technician who had been employed for the city for 4.5 years.

          Michelle “Missy” Langer

Langer was an administrative assistant who had been employed by the city for 12 years.

          Robert “Bobby” Williams

Williams was a special projects coordinator with Public Utilities who had worked for the city for 41 years.

          Herbert “Bert” Snelling

Snelling was a contractor who was only in the building to apply for a permit.

GILROY, Calif. (AP) — The Latest on a shooting at an annual food festival in Northern California (all times local):

            9:25 p.m.

The band Tin Man was just starting an encore when shots rang out at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Northern California.

Singer Jack van Breen said he saw a man wearing a green shirt and grayish handkerchief around his neck fire into the food area with what looked like an assault rifle.

Van Breen and other members of the band dove under the stage. Van Breen says he heard someone shout: "Why are you doing this?" and the reply: "Because I'm really angry. "

His bandmate Vlad Malinovsky from Walnut Creek, California, said he heard a lot of shots and then it stopped. Later, law enforcement came by and told the band members and others hiding with them to come out with their hands up.

A city official says the gunman killed three and wounded 12 in the late Sunday afternoon shooting.

"We were just leaving and we saw a guy with a bandana wrapped around his leg because he got shot. And there were people on the ground, crying," Reyes said. "There was a little kid hurt on the ground. People were throwing tables and cutting fences to get out."

Reyes told the Mercury News that she didn't run at first because the gunshots sounded like fireworks. "It started going for five minutes, maybe three. It was like the movies — everyone was crying, people were screaming."

Todd Jones, a sound engineer, told the newspaper that he was at the front of the festival's Vineyard stage when he heard what sounded like a firework. "But then it started to increase, more rapidly, which sounded more like gunfire, and at that point people realized what was happening," Jones said.

Mass shooting leaves at least 20 dead, dozens injured in El Paso, police say originally appeared on abcnews.go.com

Twenty people were killed and dozens more injured on Saturday morning in a massacre at an El Paso, Texas, Walmart that was packed with back-to-school shoppers, making it one of the ten deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history, officials said.

The wounded ranged in age from a 2-year-old child to an 82-year-old victim.

The suspect was identified by authorities as Patrick Crusius, 21, of Allen, Texas.

He was "taken into custody without incident" and without any law enforcement officers firing their weapons, according to El Paso Police Department Sgt. Robert Gomez. The alleged shooter's motives remains unknown, Gomez said.

At a news conference on Saturday night, El Paso police Chief Greg Allen said that 20 people had died and 26 more had been injured. Allen said authorities are examining what he called a “manifesto” that they believe was written by the shooter and shows a possible “nexus” to a hate crime.

(MORE: 2 Walmart employees shot dead at store, co-worker charged with murder)

The majority of the victims were shot inside the Walmart, according to Gomez, which at the time contained more than 100 employees and what authorities have preliminarily estimated to be between 1,000 and 3,000 Saturday morning back-to-school shoppers.

A spokesperson for El Paso's Del Sol Medical Center said that 11 victims ranging in age from 35 to 82 were being treated at the facility. University Medical Center of El Paso received an additional 13 victims -- two of whom were children, ages 2 and 9, who were stabilized and transferred to El Paso Children's Hospital, according to officials. A hospital spokesperson said that nine patients were in critical condition and three had life-threatening injuries.

(MORE: 'I can tell you one thing right now: Our gun laws will change': New Zealand PM )

At 2 p.m. local time, the El Paso Police Department issued a tweet making an urgent request for blood donations, and directing local residents to two facilities run by Vitalent Blood Services where they could donate blood. Within three hours, photos posted to social media showed lines stretching around the block at locations accepting local blood donors.

              'On a mission'

Allen, the police chief, said the first 911 call came in at 10:39 a.m. local time, and that emergency responders were on the scene at 10:45.

The shooting began in the parking lot outside the Walmart, according to an eyewitness who said she heard gunshots as she drove through the parking lot with her mother.

Shopper Vanessa Saenz described the shooter in an interview with ABC News Radio as dressed in cargo pants and a black t-shirt, wearing ear protectors and said he looked like he was "dancing."

Moments later, Saenz saw a woman a few feet away fall to the ground.

She then described seeing victims near the shooter who became cornered -- with nowhere to run -- and then watched the gunman raise a rifle, aim it at them and start firing.

"One thing I'ever never forget is when he walked into walm very confidently, like he was on a mission," she later told ABC News anchor Tom Llamas in an interview for "World New Tonight."

At 12:11 p.m. local time, the El Paso Police Department had issued a tweet that said in part, "We have multi reports of multiple shooters."

Police initially said that there may have been "multiple shooters," but Gomez later clarified that just one person had been arrested.

"At this time, we do have one person in custody. We don't believe there's anybody outstanding," he said.

The Walmart is located at the Cielo Vista Mall, one of the city's most popular malls, particularly among Mexican tourists who cross the U.S. border to shop there before returning to Mexico.

At least nine people were killed and 16 more were wounded in a shooting early Sunday in Dayton, Ohio, the second American mass shooting in less than 24 hours and the third in a week.

Officers responded to a shooting that began at 1 a.m. on East Fifth Street in the city’s Oregon entertainment district, the Dayton Police Department said. It said on Twitter that officers were “in the immediate vicinity when this shooting began and were able to respond and put an end to it quickly.”

The police said the gunman had also died.

Terrea Little, a spokeswoman at Miami Valley Hospital, confirmed the hospital had received 16 patients from the shooting, but had no information on their conditions.

An employee at Ned Peppers, a bar on the street, wrote in a post on Instagram that “all of our staff is safe and our hearts go out to everyone involved as we gather information.”

Kikes clutch each other in Pittsburg after the shooting of 11 of them
                  .

Seven times this year, a gunman has opened fire in a U.S. public place, killing at least three people. One shooter is suspected of being a white supremacist. One was an Elizabeth Warren supporter. And two were black.

Yet fears over rising white nationalist attacks after the El Paso massacre threaten to obscure what studies describe as the big picture about mass killings: that they represent a small fraction of annual gun deaths, that they are not surging, and that about half are committed by whites, not a share out of line with the general U.S. populace.

A May 2018 policy brief by the Rockefeller Institute of Government at the State University of New York, which looked at any incident that resulted in deaths or injuries and excluded gang violence or terrorist activity, found that the perception that whites are responsible for nearly all mass shootings is a myth.

“Despite common misperceptions that all mass shooters are white, the findings indicate that while a majority are, this proportion is just over half of the perpetrators (53.9 percent),” said the study, noting that almost all were men. “More than one in four shooters is black and nearly one in ten is of Hispanic descent.”

Amy Swearer, senior legal policy analyst at The Heritage Foundation, said about two-thirds of shooters are found to have serious mental problems but that the media coverage has focused on those with an ideological bent such as racism or nativism.

“The media attention that they get is disproportionate to really even the percentage they account for in terms of mass public shootings, and then mass public shootings in general get a disproportionate amount of coverage in terms of what they account for in number of deaths,” Ms. Swearer said.

That’s not to say white nationalism isn’t an issue, she said: “There have been quite a number of high-profile incidents, whether completed or thwarted, in the last couple of years by individuals with a white nationalist bent that are very concerning.”

The discovery of a manifesto that authorities believe is linked to the man accused of the El Paso attack describes a desire to counter the “Hispanic invasion of Texas.” The language fueled a liberal outcry against President Trump, who was accused of fomenting white nationalist sentiment with his calls for border security.

“We need to call out white nationalism for what it is — domestic terrorism,” Ms. Warren tweeted. “It is a threat to the United States, and we’ve seen its devastating toll this weekend. And we need to call out the president himself for advancing racism and white supremacy.”

The FBI has reported 850 domestic terrorism investigations, 40% of which involve racially motivated violent extremism, and most of those involve white supremacists, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The El Paso shooting followed the January massacre at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, the October attack on a Pittsburgh synagogue, and the April shooting at a San Diego synagogue by attackers professing white nationalist beliefs.

Sen. Cory A. Booker of New Jersey, one of Ms. Warren’s rivals for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, said on CNN: Mr. Trump “is responsible because he is stoking fears and hatred and bigotry.”

At the same time, the uproar over white nationalism has shifted the focus from what some researchers describe as the biggest drivers of mass shootings, including family breakdown, childhood trauma, mental illness, workplace crises, access to weapons and a fascination with previous shooters glorified in the media.

Warren Farrell, author of “The Boy Crisis,” said boys with minimal or no father involvement, or with “really messed-up families,” represent the vast majority of mass shooters, Islamic State recruits and the male prison population.

The Rockefeller study found that 96% of shooters were male, which is in keeping with other research.

“Boys without a sense of purpose start searching for other senses of purpose, and that may be in the form of God, and then it’s constructive usually, or that may be in the form of, ‘I want Americans to be America and I don’t want any immigrants to come into the country,’” Mr. Farrell said.

The Mother Jones mass shooting database, which defines such shootings at those resulting in three or more deaths, listed seven episodes so far this year, including the El Paso massacre, which left 22 dead.

Less than a day later, a gunman opened fire in an entertainment district in Dayton, Ohio, killing nine before he was slain by police. The shooter, who was white, called himself a pro-Satan “leftist” on social media and said he would vote for Ms. Warren.

Last year, the Mother Jones database listed 12 mass shootings. The suspects or offenders included five whites; five with Hispanic surnames (including accused Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz, who was adopted); one Asian American Army veteran, and one black woman.

In a 2017 report in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Northeastern University researcher Emma E. Fridel broke down mass killers — those who killed at least four people — by race and into three categories: family, felony and public.

She found white offenders committed 49.2% of the public mass killings — those committed in public places — and 47.9% of shootings of relatives or partners, but just 22.3% of the felony shootings, those that involve the commission of another crime. Black offenders committed 50.5% of felony mass killings, and the rest of those were listed as “other/mixed” race.

The vast majority of mass killings fall into the familial category, with public and felony mass killings each making up about 15% of the total, she said.

“People don’t think that their family member is going to kill them. They’re not afraid of their brother or father. They’re afraid of this mysterious person that will shoot up a mall or something like that,” Ms. Fridel said. “In reality, if you are afraid of being a victim of a mass shooting, the first person you should be looking at is your husband or your son.”

Whites made up about 72% of the U.S. population in 2010, according to the Census Bureau, though that number is expected to decline in 2020 and many Hispanics identify as “white” for census purposes.

Researchers have pushed back on reports that mass shootings are on the rise, stoked by headlines based on the Gun Violence Archive stating that there are “more shootings than days in the year,” as USA Today put it.

“We do hear this number that we’ve had more mass shootings than dates. That’s not mass killings, [which are] four or more people shot,” Northeastern professor James Alan Fox said on Fox News.

“Half of the time, no one’s killed,” he said. “Seventy-five percent of the time, at most one victim. I don’t want to say they’re not important; they certainly are. But they’re not mass killings. People get confused.”

Are mass killings on the rise?

“It’s been basically flat, no trend,” Mr. Fox said. “We have seen an uptick in 2017, 2018 and obviously this year. Whether that will continue, I certainly hope not. I wouldn’t conclude that we’re facing this big epidemic.”

As soon as President Trump touched down Wednesday in Ohio he was met by two prominent critics of his response to the mass shootings in Dayton and El Paso, Texas, over the weekend.

Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, a Democrat, and Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, confronted Trump after greeting him on the tarmac at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

“Both of us spoke with the president right after he got off Air Force One,” Brown told reporters. “Both the mayor and I asked the president to call on Sen. [Mitch] McConnell to move to bring the Senate back in session this week, to tell the Senate he wants the background checks bill that has already passed the House on the floor for a vote.

“I asked the president to promise to me and the American people he will sign that bill,” Brown said.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — The man accused of carrying out last weekend's deadly mass shooting at a Walmart in the Texas border city of El Paso confessed to officers while he was surrendering and later explained that he had been targeting Mexicans, authorities say.

Patrick Crusius, 21, emerged with his hands up from a vehicle that was stopped at an intersection shortly after last Saturday's attack and told officers, "I'm the shooter," Detective Adrian Garcia said in an arrest warrant affidavit.

Crusius later waived his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives, telling them he entered the store with an AK-47 assault rifle and multiple magazines, and that he was targeting Mexicans.

Twenty-two people were killed and about two dozen were injured. Most of the dead had Hispanic last names and eight were Mexican nationals.

Authorities believe that shortly before the attack, Crusius posted a racist screed online that railed against an influx of Hispanics into the U.S. The document parrots some of President Donald Trump's divisive rhetoric about immigration, but the writer said his views predate Trump's rise and that any attempt to blame the president for his actions was "fake news."

Many El Paso residents, protesters and Democrats have blasted Trump over his incendiary words, blaming Trump for inflaming political and racial tensions throughout the country. Trump has denied stoking division and violence, contending this week that he "brings people together. Our country is doing incredibly well."

Authorities say Crusius drove more than 10 hours from his hometown near Dallas to carry out the shooting in the largely Latino border city of El Paso. An attorney for the Crusius family, Chris Ayres, told The Associated Press that the rest of the family never heard Patrick Crusius use the kind of racist and anti-immigrant language that was posted in the online screed.

Crusius has been charged with capital murder and is being held without bond. Federal prosecutors have said they are also considering hate-crime charges.

The attack came hours before another mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, in which nine people were killed. The dual shootings, which killed 31 people in all and wounded dozens more, reignited calls for Congress to take immediate action to reduce gun violence.

Trump said Friday that he believes he has influence to rally Republicans around stronger federal background check laws. But at the same time, Trump said he had assured the National Rifle Association that its gun rights views would be "fully represented and respected."

Three mass shooting plots were thwarted in recent days with the arrests of three men in unrelated cases, authorities in Connecticut, Florida and Ohio said.

Tips from the public aided in the three arrests, which occurred from Thursday and Friday. Police in each case said the men, all white and in their 20s, posted online or sent text messages with threats of committing mass shootings.

The arrests come amid renewed cries for legislation to change the country's gun laws in the wake of mass shootings in California, Texas and Ohio. Multiple false alarm and hoax shooting scares have also kept the nation on edge in recent weeks.

Here's what we know about the three cases:

                        .

                        Connecticut:

Brandon Wagshol, 22, of Norwalk was arrested on four counts of illegal possession of large capacity magazines, the city's police department said Thursday.

Wagshol was arrested after a joint investigation from Norwalk police and the FBI was opened after federal authorities received a tip that he was allegedly trying to buy high capacity rifle magazines out-of-state.

Police said Wagshol purchased rifle parts online to build his own weapon and had posted on Facebook showing "his interest in committing a mass shooting."

When executing a search warrant, police found two guns registered to Wagshol's father, multiple rounds of ammunition, body armor and other tactical equipment, Norwalk police said.

                        .

                        Florida

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Tristan Scott Wix, 25, of Daytona Beach was arrested Friday and charged with making threats to commit a mass shooting.

Sheriff's deputies began investigating after they were alerted to multiple texts Wix allegedly sent with his plans to commit a mass shooting. The office did not say to whom Wix sent the messages.

"A school is a weak target.. id be more likely to open fire on a large crowd of people from over 3 miles away.. I'd wanna break a world record for longest confirmed kill ever," the sheriff's department said Wix texted.

Another text allegedly read: "But a good 100 kills would be nice. I already have a location (laughing cry face emoji) is that bad?"

Wix said he doesn't own firearms but was "fascinated with mass shootings," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Police also released body cam video of Wix's arrest.

                        .

                        Ohio

Police arrested James P. Reardon, 20, after receiving a tip about an online video where the man identified himself as the shooter at a Jewish community center — an incident that hadn't happened yet, according to the FBI.

Reardon was arrested Friday on charges of telecommunications harassment and aggravated menacing, FBI Cleveland Division said.

The video post on Instagram tagged the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown from Reardon’s account, police say.

A search warrant was executed at Reardon's parent's home the same day local police received the tip about the video. Reardon was arrested without incident and police said rounds of ammunition, semi-automatic weapons and anti-Semitic information were found.

A shooting Sunday at a Walmart in Hobart, Indiana, wounded one person and two others were in custody, police announced.

"There are two suspects in custody and weapons have been recovered from the scene," the Hobart Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

The post also said the victim was in stable condition and was being rushed to a nearby hospital. It's unclear whether the suspects knew the person who was shot.

"Walmart has been evacuated and the scene is secure and is being processed as a crime scene at this time," the post added.

No further details were released with police saying the investigation was in its "infancy" and that the Walmart was evacuated.

Police said there was no threat to the public.

The Indiana shooting came one day after a man went on a shooting rampage in West Texas, killing seven people and wounding 22 others in the area of Odessa and Midland, Texas.

On August 3, a gunman opened fire in a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, killing 22 people and injuring over 20 others. The next day, in Dayton, Ohio, a shooter killed 9 people and injured dozens in 32 seconds.

Hobart is about an hour's drive southeast of Chicago.

A 17-year-old was arrested after 10 people were shot following a high school football game in Alabama, according to police.

The victims in the shooting, which happened in Mobile, ranged in age from 15 to 18. They were rushed to area hospitals, officials said.

No one died, according to authorities.

Deangelo Parnell, 17, has been arrested and charged with nine counts of attempted murder, Mobile Police Department spokesman Laderrick Dubose told ABC News Saturday morning.

Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste didn't confirm to reporters the shooting stemmed from an altercation, but he did admonish young people for "bringing their beefs that they have with each other in their neighborhoods" into public settings and "putting people in harm's way."

The incident "may have been a directed threat at one or two individuals and other people just happened to fall prey to their carelessness," Battiste added.

One person had a seizure and another suffered an injured hand, but it's unclear if those individuals were among the 10 who got shot.

"Why are young people bringing this type of violence to public events?" Battiste said at a news conference. "We're gonna have to be more aggressive on our end as a city as to how we hold these individuals accountable."

                            .
